Broad Run participants of NHS actively serve their school and the community through frequent tutoring and service events. Our greatest accomplishment is our school-wide tutoring service. Students from all areas of study look to NHS tutors for assistance in improving grades, study habits, and organization. This tutoring system is extended to our feeder schools, notably Dominion Trail Elementary School and Farmwell Station Middle School.The Broad Run chapter of NHS also volunteers frequently at community events, such as the Ashburn Farm Beautification Day, St. David's annual auction and picnic, the Ashburn Library, and various summer camps, as well as at feeder school events, notably International festivals, Parent's Night Out, and PTSO auctions and fundraisers. Broad Run NHS also hosts multiple events throughout the school year to raise money for various causes. This past year, our Holiday Party hosted collected presents for less fortunate children, our Basket Bingo event raised money to fund research for Smashing Walnuts for childhood brain tumors, and the Color Run has raised thousands of dollars for the Madison Small Scholarship and the National Meningitis Association.
